I am contemplating putting in a 502 in my 67 Camaro. What other major components need to be changed to put this engine in. Will it need new front springs, radiator, engine or transmission mounts (I currently have a Muncie 4 sp,)etc? Are there stock headers for such a swap? Any cutting of metal I will expect to do? Pitfalls? Tips? Bob

brakes to stop the rampaging rat motor... at least bolt on sub frame connectors.
since big inch rats into camaros have been done many times most parts can be had off the shelf...

if its already a big block 396 car then no, just drop and go. if its a small block car then yes upgrades are needed. if the rearend is a 10 bolt then put in a 12 bolt or 9 in. the trans is good. muncie was the *** for thoughs cars. coolling is the next one. get a good rad and fan. and hooker makes a good header. deppending on the intake and carb. combo you might need a hood. other than that no cutting no grinding just a good shoe horn.
have fun

The 502 has the same outer dimensions as the older bbc but they will not accept a mechanical fuel pump IMPORTANT!! If you are going 4 speed you will have to get the 502 balance flywheel because the 502 has a longer stroke than a 396-454 the balance is different. Other than that all of the rest is bolt on.
