I recently purchased a modified drag car: 74 Mercury Capri that has a 350 Chevy engine with automatic transmission installed. The engine needs work. I want to start fixing it up, but have little knowledge of Chevy engines/transmissions. The engine has the following serial # on it #V1025FRC and below it was #CEF117566. Both were found on the front of engine behind the alternator. Additionally each side of the engine block has CFD 207 stamped on it. The transmission has GM 14010207 locted on the top left side of the bellhousing. The guy I bought the car from provided no information. How do I know what year the eng/transmission are and what they came off of? It will be difficult to order replacement parts without knowing. Thanks for any insight.
Have fun!

14010207 - My info shows that it's a 1980 to 1985 350 cid block originally used in Chevy trucks. 4-bolt mains, Low end power 130, high end power 200.
