As you can tell from my user name I'm new to the Chevy camp. I recently aquired a 1981 Monte Carlo that I have confirmed is a real turbo car. I have also found it to be 1 of 3,027. What I am trying to find out is how to document what the car was equipped with when it left the factory. I know how to do this on a Mopar but not on a Chevy. I wrote to GM and got their restoration package for my car but unless I'm mistaken it is info on all 1981 Monte Carlos and not specific to my car. I am also looking for any info I can on the third generation Monte Carlos as well as sources for parts. Thank you Gregg.

Cool! I have never seen a turbo monte before. Have you tried to find the build sheet in the car somewhere. If you can find it this would be a good place to start.

I have not found a build sheet in the car. I found remnants of one that had been glued to and torn off of the left rear interior panel below the quarter window. I am beginning to think that the interior has been redone and is not factory.

check the inner glove box door..  in the trunk... on the inside of the trunk lid...

i don't know what year gm started putting on 3 X 4 inch white stickers with all the options on the car...

there will be dozens of 3 digit codes on the sticker...

copy and paste this link...

they seem to call it an RPO sticker...

I have one of these cars as well...62000 original kms. The previous owner wrote GM, and got a letter back with the complete breakdown list of all options on the car. I'm at work right now, but when I get home (in about 2 weeks), I'll post the address and name of the dude for you. Only 291 cars were brought here into Canada, out of a total of 3027 built. Hang on to it..it should be a collectible!!! Mine has all options except t-tops (don't want them anyways..they always end up leaking), but is otherwise totally stock with the addition of an SS nose and spoiler. Keep me posted on your resto!!!
