REBUILD OR REPLACE

I GOTTA 79 CAPRICE CLASSIC WITH A TIRED V-8 350 IN IT.IT WILL STILL CRANK BUT STALLS WHEN PUT IN GEAR. BEEN PARKED SINCE FEB. 08 WHAT WOULD BE BEST TO REPLACE OR REBUILD? OR THE LEAST COSTLY I GOT A ESTIMATE FOR A STOCK REBUILD FOR $2000. IS THAT A GOOD DEAL I THINK IT IS THANKS. CHEVY LUV

$2000 is a little high for astock rebuild.

Yeah, a stock 350 rebuild should be about $1000. You can get a remanned motor for a lot less than $2000.
Since the heads on that motor had issues with fouling out the No. 8 spark plug, I'd suggest a fresh motor with later model heads. If this is just gonna be a daily driver with mile performance, I'd find a set of aluminum L98 Corvette heads, or a set of '88-'95 iron 350 truck heads.
