Not a huge fan of the vortec heads but they do flow pretty good and there cheap around $600 a pair from jegs.

Vortec heads are pretty much the best factory iron heads out there. They're similar to LT1 heads, but don't have the reverse flow cooling.
Besides better runner design, these heads feature a heart shaped combustion chamber the works better then the older open combustion chamber heads, like what the L-98 Corvette motors had. Another difference from older heads, the Vortec heads have two less intake bolts.
For your 305, hunt around for a 96-98 Chevy/GMC 305 truck that has these heads, they'll make a good difference for your.
