I am trying to turbo charge a Chevrolet 396 ci engine. I know it will have to be a mod job but is there anyone that has any information on this? Or is there any websites that have a good how to that can help? Thanks for your help.

Turbo charging the engine is no problem, if it has the right parts, and you have hte right plumping to hook the turbo up.

The big thing is having the right compression/pistons in the motor. For a turbo/blower, you want dished pistons and compression no higher than 9:1 so you can run maximum possible boost. The higher your net compression, the less boost you can run.
