I'm building me a circle track 305 Chevy motor to run in the Hobby stock .We pulled it out of a late 70's Camaro. The Hobby Stock class lets you put just a little more ump to it then stock.
Torker 2 Manifold--Holley 1850 carb.-Mild Ultra Dyne cam(I dont got the #'s here in front of me or i would give).Accel HEI Dist. plus Wires. We will be running pump unled. gas.
I've seen the debates over 350's to 305's But i've never noticed if there is a good set of 305 Heads to be looking out for.We will be running Dirt tracks 3/8 to 1/2 mile.Remember must be stock heads no 202's..
With the 350's theres better heads then others. So i were wondering if it might be like that with 305's.
Any help will be appreciated, and will be taken into account. This is not just to post.I hope i will learn more..TYVM..

I used both of these castings with good results 14014416 and 14022601 now make sure the 601 heads came off of a 305 as they were used on 267's aswell the heads that are on the 305 has bigger valves.

Best 305 heads you can find are a set of the iron Vortec heads used on 305 in trucks, 96-98. See if you can find a set of those to run. A set of 99846 valvesprings from Crane, and with that class you have to run a stock stamped steel rocker if I'm not mistaken, you should hunt around and se if you can find a set of Crane nitrided stamp steel rockers made specifically for circle track racing. Part No. is 11801C-16 for a 1.5 ratio, and 11802C-16 for a 1.6 ratio. Have screw in rocker studs installed if rules allow.
