HI GUYS I'M NEW TO THE FORUM ,AND NEED SOME ADVICE ,I HAVE A 2 BOLT THAT I WANT TO REBUID TO PUT IN MY VETTE(WHICH IS SMOKING LIKE THE QUEEN MARY COMING INTO DOCK )THE BLOCK IS A CORVETTE 03970010 ,DO I USE THE STANDARD CRANK AND RODS ? I HAVE SPEED PRO PISTONS AND RINGS ,EDELBROCK PERFORMER HEADS,MAGNUM COMP CAM (270)EDELBROCK PERFOMER INLET,WITH THE CHOICE OF A EDELBROCK 600 CFM PERFOMER CARB OR A 670 HOLLEY STREET AVENGER ,THE ENGINE IS CURRENTLYIN THE VETTE IS THE L82 4 BOLT MAIN WHICH I KINOW IS A BETTER BLOCK ,COULD I USE THE CRANK AND RODS FROM THIS ,HOPE YOU CAN HELP A NOVICE WITH GOOD KNOWLEDGE THANKS MARTIN

You can reuse the stock crank and rods, you'll just want to have htem reconditioned by a machine shop, and have hte rods magnafluxed and checked for stress cracks.
If you're not gonna be pumping out a ton of horsepower with this motor, reconditioned stock rods with good ARP bolts will do just fine.

thanks for the reply ,did you mean the stock crank and rods from the 2 bolt or from the L82 motor,martin

if you are going to change pistons from the 2 bolt crank and rods,it would be money well spent to have the rotating assembly balanced. it will make a smoother run engine and it will last longer. most shops charge around $100 to $175 to do this. as a side note i've run 2 bolt blocks with over 575hp with no failures. so just hang on to your original engine i case you want to return your vette to a # matching car.
