I am going home on leave from across the pond to pick up a 32 chevy that has not seen daylight since 1968. I want to keep the car origional and not change anything. The motor is a straight six. I want to rebuild the motor back to stock. Is there any old timers out there that can direct me to where I can get the bearings poured? I guess they call it a babbit bearing. thanks

there are many engine rebuilders that can still pour babbit..

some will say they *** and then send it off someplace else...

try egge machine in santa fe springs ca...     they will have most of what you want.. and they can even cast new pistons for you... in old molds... in house..  they also have nos parts for many motors...

i am wondering if that is a stovebolt six...   216, 228, 235   if so... it makes it a lot easier to get stuff for...    i don;t have my old car books out..  but you might be in luck...        and if it is ....  they lived on in toyota F motors for a bunch more years after gm stopped making them...  when i worked for an engine builder.. we had a 228 fire truck motor and a toyota F motor sitting next to each other..    it was amazing... they were almost identical... except for threads...  metric in the toyota version..
