Somehow while turning a corner, I managed to put my 2001 Tahoe in reverse and then park all in a matter of 10 seconds or so while moving forward. i was turning a corner and my drink flipped out of the console, I reached down to grab it and caught the shifter on the way up which threw it in reverse, the truck immediately turned off and started coasting, in all of the confusion, I then put it in park at about 5mph and it then made a noise like putting a piece of cardboard in your bicycle spokes and grinded to a halt. So at that point I tried to crank it, just turned over. About 60 seconds later, i tried again and it started right up, reverse still worked and seems to be driving okay. Should it be checked out at this point or go with the old saying, "if it ain't broke don't fix it"? Anything to look for specifically in the next few weeks/months as a sign I've completely screwed it up? Thanks...

when it passed through reverse.. it stalled the motor... as it went into park... the park pawl tryed to lock in... it is spring loaded so it will not lock in until the car is going slow enough for the square teeth to jump in...
you probably shortened the life of your transmission a *** but ... you will just need to do like everybody else.. and drive it til it dies.. changing the fluid and filter in the trans.. every 12,000 to 15,000 miles will keep it alive much longer.. make sure you measure what you took out... and put in at least that much... so you don't burn it out for lack of fluid.. usually... drive tires off the ground.. shifter in park.. put in 3 quarts.. start motor... check atf.. add if low. foot on brake.. pull it through the gears.. PRNOD D 2L... and back up slowly to park.. then check again..
