I'm starting to look for an engine for a conversion project.  If anyone has used an LS-1 into a Porsche 944 Turbo, let me know what year and model engine makes the best choice.  I found a website that has the kit available for the LSx motors.  The stock 4 banger is powerful, but is down with a bad timing belt and subsequent head damage.  $$$ to fix it look to be about halfway to a chevy conversion with even more beans.  I know the Camaro SS engine is a good one.
