I am installing a Tremec 5 speed into my 67 nova. I am using a hydraulic clutch setup. I am in need of a little direction as to the proper installation location of the hydraulic master cylinder. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

As far as I know, on the firewall close to the clutch pedal is the best place.
Anyone else know more specifics?

Thanks Phil, Since I posted this I found a link on the Classic Chevy 5 Speed website. They have a detailed installation spec sheet that states exactly what you have suggested. It requires some fabrication and reinforcement of the firewall. I think I have a good idea where I need to start. Thanks again

I'm also doing a 67 nova hydraulic clutch install and need help. I contacted Classic Chevy 5 speed and they don't have anything for the 66/67 nova. Were you talking about someone different? Any help would be appreciated Thks

here is an image of the clutch pedal linkage...

mustang guys have a simular linkage... they install the master where the pushrod goes through the firewall... they sometimes use a clutch master like a 1990 jeep wrangler.
other times they use an aftermarket master that usually has a 2 bolt flange on it... with a vertical bolt pattern... one company sells custom welded units with the mounting flange on a diagonal pattern.
you can probably extend the pushrod with some new mini ball joints ... this would give you ajustability... you also might want to make a bracket that has mulltiple holes untill you get the ratio correct...
hope this helps...

The 67 Nova is a real bugaboo for using hydraulics because, unlike other cars of its generation that has a small hole for the clutch rod to pass through, the early Novas has a big peanut shaped hole that accommodates both the clutch rod and the steering column. I have been putting hydraulics in muscle cars for quite a while and on this car the easiest way to make it happen is to weld a plate over the lower section of the existing hole and create an area for the mounting of a master cylinder. Several companies including The Driven Man and Classic Chevy 5-Speed offer kits to put the master at the right angle once you have that plate in place. Hope I have offered some good insight.
Now for my related question. Does anyone know where a fella can buy mechanical linkage for the early Nova. So far I have not found anyone who re-pops this set-up. Thanks for any help you might have.
