Have a '69 SS350 with powerglide trans and the speedo does not work, so I pulled the speedo gear ( a yellow 24 toother) out of the tailshaft of the tranny and will replace it as its chewed up. Question is do I have to replace any gear or gears inside the tailshaft of the tranny in order for this new speedo gear to work? Also, my odometer is not working - is that gear also in the speedo cable assembly going into the tailshaft or will the new speedo gear solve this? Thanks for ANY help.
