Has anyone performed basic bolt-ons to a 4.3 in an s10? My truck is an 2002 xtreme s10 ext. cab
i have a list of things to do...but i want to know if the mods. are worth the effort
1. emissions legal shorty headers

2. 1/2" larger exhaust w/ high flow converter and single in dual out flowmaster delta 40 or 44 muffler and 1/4" larger tail pipes ( larger sizes are based off stock sized exhaust)

3. aem brute airforce cold air kit

4. granatelli hi-performance maf sensor(82mm that works w/ cold air intake)

5. removal of 1" air restrictor ( rivited to bottom of tbi throddle blade)

6. tbi spacer

7. hypertech power programmer

8. 1800-2100 lock up stall converter

9. 4l60e shift kit

10. gear change (3.42 stockers) to 3.73's

11. roller rockers (if theres a set on the market that fits under stock valve covers)

12. under-drive pulleys

if anyone knows if all or any of these mods will make my truck perform better (and look totally stock) ; your info will be helpfull!!

OK,,,your on the right track,,,now,,,go to,,stsperformance.com,,they have a list of parts that will help you out,,now mind you,,,,they ain't cheap,,,but if your going to do what you listed,,,then I assume you're prepared for this.I have 3 Extremes,,one of them is listed on here,,a little white one called "Thumper",,my others are stock except for a few mods,,,some of which you mentioned,,and as small as they were,,they made a huge difference in performance.Good luck with your project.

Rockers are no problem for your S-10. You need to get the self aligning roller rockers (1.5 ratio, your 4.3L won't take 1.6s without machine work) that fit any '87-'95 305 or 350, they'll fit under the stock valve covers.

As for a good performance upgrade, I highly recommend a cam swap. A better hydraulic roller, combined with your gear change, will really wake your truck up, at least 20-30 HP, probably more with a little computer tuning.
