Same ignition system for the truck and Corvette, so spark plug gap is the same.

As for the timing, start with factory timing, then fine tune from there.

Sounds like the accelerator pump isn't adjusted properly.

A lockup converter has no slippage when the trans is in its final gear. It locks the impellars in the converter so you have 1:1 going into the transmission. For a car ont he street, you want one.

45 would be a bit much for even maxed out. 28-34 adv. at 3500 rpms. If your using a vacume advance it should be disconnected while setting timing and shoud have live vaccume at idle. Cams degreed in at 108 seem to pull more vacumme producing more low end torque. So when choosing a new cam reverse think the process to get all the specs in the right place. Is your carb a rebuilt quad by holley or a holley carb. Lots of differance but I am a Quad-jet fool. Hope your dist has a curve kit with weak spring set. HEI rotor is a weak point. Get a tan set its worth the extra bucks.RV cams are the worst, neither nor and sucks the gas.  A 252H with 1.6 rockers is a great gas and low end torque cam.  Bad plug wires can also cause a stumble. Check your valve springs and valve adjustment. You may have one a bit off. One weak spring are galded rocker on hydraulics can run you nuts. On solids too tight changes a lot of cam specs to the bad. Hope this helps.  PS 110 lobe sep. allows a little more tune ability.

76 Rocket 350 Olds had a more powerful coil and called for .085 spark gap but works on 45 OK but more cost efective and needs a tan cap and rotor to work corectly. Hotest thing going. Bench test before and after with nothing on the top and watch real fire power at work. Best be ready to go up on jetting to match and watch your horses climb.

O lash at idle on holley carb pump. Make sure squirters are working properly.  To big on CFMs or pumps and squirters can dround a engine and cause a stumble.

I have a question: When you disconnected your Trans Clutch, was it hooked to a vacuum source?
If you have a vacuum advance HEI unplug the vacuum line from the distributor. Plug the open end set your base timing. Set the base timing @ 10*-12*. Now hook the vacuum advance back up. Bring the RPM to 1800RPM and set the total advance to 28*-32*. The cam you have is really a torque, low RPM cam. Mainly used for towing, or an RV etc.
Set your Spark Plug Gap at .032 to .035 NO More then that. That will help your stock HEI.
The TH350 trans you have is a TH350-C. It shouldn't effect your bottom end any, or the way your truck takes off.
