RE: Budget LS Build

I read the article (yes, I have a subscription) in the hardcopy, then waited about a month for the online version to show the parts breakdown.

I was dissappointed that you don't list the sources of these parts, it would be really helpful in the future.

Where did you get an LQ4 used for that price?  I can't touch one in any decent shape around here (upstate NY)for twice that!  Was it complete or just the short block, or just the block itself?

I know some mags have used core suppliers like AA Midwest, but I was under the impression they were wholesale to rebuilders and such.  Can an average joe such as I get an core engine for this much for real?

This is Phil from BRP hotrods I saw the build up I’m glad to see more interest in these LS engines and a lot of my customers have been referencing this Super Chevy build. I know a couple LS salvage yards and offer engine brokerage so let me know what you’re after and ill be happy to find you a LS drive train. I have 33K 5.3L from ebay with a LS6 intake a 04 Z06 cam and headers and made 326 RWHP with 323 RW torque. So there are a lot of options for a low cost build with these LS engines.

I offer LS swap kits for most GM cars and trucks that use the OEM accessories and GM oil pans with 7 hedders options for each vehicle

Thanks Phil, I appreciate the response.

I was hoping the author or someone from the mag would explain where the core came from.  One of my pet peeves is a headline of build a million hp whatever for under X bucks, but some stuff gets left out or was magically found in the back of the garage.

Sorry, I didn't mean to rant.  But some of us actually do read these mags and don't just look at the pretty pictures.
