I have a 70 Chevelle SS with no motor and transmission in it. I purchased a remanufactured 305 and I was thinking of installing the TPI unit on it. I know you are all about horsepower and are probably wondering why I don't put an original 396 in it but with fuel at 4+ bucks a gallon I want something more efficient so I can cruise with it longer. Anyway I was wondering where could I go for some assistance with this project? Thanks for nay help you could give.

Don't sweat, most of us won't bust your balls for putting a small block in the car, especially if you want to drive it more than once a month!

To put a TPI system on that 305, you've got some options. First off, you need to find a Camaro/Firebird that you can get the full TPI system off of. That's the uppper and lower manifolds, the fuel rails, injectors, throttle body, etc.

As for controlling a factory TPI system, instead of using a factory harness and control system, I'd go with a more modern and tuneable system from FAST or similar company.

Your other option is to go with GM Performance Parts Ramjet 350 Fuel Injection system. It's specifically designed for Pre-'79 cars and trucks.  You get everything you need to convert your car to modern FI that's simple and reliable. It's in the GMPP catalog, part no. 12498032

With either option you'll have ot replumb the fuel system, but that's not hard.

Also not sure what year you 305 is but make sure you have the center bolt heads I think your TPI manifold might be a different bolt pattern than the standard. Painless makes a good harness and FI controller too. Put a 700R4 behind it with a lock up controler/ unless you use a ECU that will run it and you should be set wont be to hard at all and you should have a sweet ride when your done.
