i am looking at a small block that is supposed to be a 350 out of an early 70's vette. all i have are the numbers off the back of the block but i can probably get the others if they are needed. the numbers on the drivers side of the block are gm 3970010 and the pass. side has g126? any info would be greatly appreciated and if any other numbers are required please let me know thanks ryan

The block was used in trucks, cars, and vettes. The block was made from 1969-80 the block was used for 302,327,350 the date code you are giving says it was made july 12, 1976.The 3970010 block is a good casting.

thanks alot. i was wondering if you have any idea if the heads off this motor would be worth rebuilding or if i should just go with aftermarket. i'm planning on a mild 383 with more interest on a torquey motor instead of a high rpm screamer. everything appears to be stock right down to the 2 barrel intake thanks again for the info on the block ryan

They were used on 350 and 400 small blocks from 1975-84 and they have 1.72/1.50 valves. Yes they need to be the same but I would not use those heads they are very low performace and are not worth putting money into.
