Anyone know how to install a windshield wiper cable in a 1955 Chevy Belair? Space is minimal and I don't have much room to put hands in there. Any helpful hints would be appreciated.

Just looked through my '55 shop manuals, can't find much on installing this cable.

did the cable break??? or someone twist it off?
usually you take the wiper arms off.. then unscrew the retaining ring.. (on the outside) this drops the wiper pivots into the interior... you can then examine the cable latches that hold the cables to the drum....
as i recall the spool that mounts to the motor. (center) unbolts from the shaft... or the motor comes out easily.
if the latches that hold the ends of the cable tips in the drum are torn out.. you need to replace the broken parts... or the entire assembly... someone does make a lever type of complete replacement... no more cables... no more problems..
it does get tight under there but .. it is accessable.. unless you have added a bunch of heater and a/c stuff..
