I'm currently swapping in a 454 BBC into a 79 bu for a friend this was know in advance to be a tough swap anyhow first the exhaust manifolds we have 81 bbc truck manifolds, the pass side has plenty of clearance, but the drivers side is close to the heads and we have to re-plumb the oil sending unit... the next is the cross member oh yeah I forgot,we have a th400, so the cross member will have to be extremly modified as well as a new custom drive line and exhaust... my problem is the front pulleys and power steering mounts, the right bbc water pump will not work as it is in the way of all mounting points on the driver side of the motor we think that if we go to a corvette stock pump we should have the cleance and the alternator pulleys won't line up their close but not right, I really don't want to make a ton of trips th the parts store ( buy & return )as well as the wrecking yards, if you know what I mean anyone have some ideas thanks...

yes people are here....
but ... what are you talking about../// the water pump is on center up in front of the block... big blocks use big block brackets... there are several differnt ones..
the oil pan needs to be changed to probably a chevelle model... the truck pan will not fit... it is much easier to swap the pan than mod the crossmember..
the exhaust manifolds need to be swapped also... i dont personally know which ones will fit your swap... but other people have done that exact swap...
you may need to make some spacers for the motor mounts... the part on the frame..... or go to a set up that has been used before... again.. truck stuff will not fit easily..
so people .. are here... but you really need to be clear on what you want.. and what year make and model you have...
nobody is a mind reader... and you don't live next door..

thanks waynep 712 I have the BBC pulleys and power steering pump now and alternator bolt with the right spacer/bushing everything fits perfect... this engine is a 76 truck block with 65/66 oval port heads the exshauts manifolds do work and the shroud needed a bit of trimming to clearance the pulleys but still keeps the engine cool runs @ 180 degrees sorry I did not give enough info but this was a cry for help and my first time with this kind of swap so excuse me!!

make sure when the engine loads the mounts.. that there is room for the fan blade to spin...
best of luck anyway...
