This may seem as a common question, but I've been getting mixed messages on this topic. I'm building a high output factory motor using only factory parts. My question is I want to use camel hump heads on a late model block with early intake manifold. I know Chevy changed the angles on the heads, but what 2? the deck, or the int.ports on the heads? this would help out alot, thanks!!

Unless it's an LT1 block, those early heads will bolt on a late model block no problem. And the early intake manifold will bolt to the heads with no issues.
Chevy changed the angle and number of intake manifold BOLTS when the vortec heads came out in '96. They went from 12 bolts to eight with vertical orientation, versus the angled orientation of the early heads.

Thanks 55guy, that kinda sucks though, the motor i was planning on using happens to be an LT1(supposed to be). The goal is to mix the best of the old, and best of the new with little money as possible.Any other advice is welcome. Thank you!

Yeah, you can't do that. The LT1s used reverse-flow cooling, so the parts aren't that interchangeable.
If the motor you've got has the cam driven water pump, it's an LT1.
You can build this motor into a solid performer though. The LT1 heads are basically Vortec heads (they have the same combustion chamber) it's just that the Vortecs don't use the reverse-flow cooling. So, they're good heads and can flow really well, better with basic porting work.
You could find someone who's got a good Gen I motor to trade you for the LT1 you've got.

No I haven't taken delivery of the motor. I work at a local junkyard, and I'm wokin it off in my free time. The most recent motor I did get from him was a 3970010, but as it turned out it dropped a valve in #8 somewhere, it was a 2 bolt, and a 190hp truck block. I spent 3 hours pulling it out of a vette. 3 years ago i bought 2 283's one with 2.02/1.60 camel humps, and one was a short block with a steel crank. I eneded up junking both blocks, kept the crank, heads, and edelbrock intake. I'll just have to bide my time and see what happens. I do have a truck over there but the I.D. numbers are gone, which probably means its been decked. So I guess I'll wait. Thanks very much for the info.

My buddy is bringin a motor in on saturday, the bottom end is ready to go. I have the top end minus carb. and cam. I'm looking at car options now. I was leaning toward a 4- malibu or an El Camino. A BMW just rolled in at work so I'm goin to push for that. Body's awsome, as a bad motor. I think that would would be cool as hell. But once agian We shall see. Thanks!

The trans is a 4-speed, but I dont know what it is, its set up for ford and GM. The tag reads HEF CV 030437, any help will be much appreciated, THANKS!!

Hey guys, I found out my trans is a top loader, but it matches the axle, so it should be a nice pair behind my elusive 350. I know its ford, but I cant complain it was free. Keep you guys posted!

Plenty of GM guys used top loaders before the Muncies became readily available. The first Doug Nash 5-speeds were built by using two top loader cases welded together.
Good rear and trans, now you need a car and motor. I'd suggest a 70s F-body, or a 70s A-body of some sort.
