Eveyone has their favorite generation of Camaro, but what makes the first gen so distinctive and just plain badd?
Is it style, speed, muscle? or is there more to it?

i think it has a lot to do with the timeless style of the first gen, there is something so cool about an all black '68

I think the first generation is so popular for a couple of reasons.  #1 It was only built for 3 years, and the 1969 is significantly different from 67 & 68.  The rest of the generations were built with minor changes for at least 9 years each.
#2 The first generation was built before smog laws and bumper regulations. #3 The first generation was available with small blocks, big blocks, virtually any engine G.M. wanted to put in it.  #4 The first generation cars were smaller and lighter than the second generation cars.  Light weight is just as good as horsepower.

I think the main reason is price you could go out and buy a 67 Z/28 for around $ 4500.00.
If Chevy made a muscle car today that was priced for everone. ( under $ 25,000.00 for a V-8 )You would see people but them just like the ( dare I say it) Mustang.
I was at super chevy this last weekend and talked to the GMC guys. They said that the new Camaro was going to have an independent rear end . Why just make affordable for peoaple Like me.I make together with my wife about $ 80,000 - 95,000.00 a year and I have two kids. I would buty a new Camaro Priced right not over priced.
Make the new car between $ 20,000.00 and $ 30,.000.00 and it would be like the first generation.

Thats the problem with the new Camaros they are sticking to JUST the first gen not all of the generations, the second and third are the best years of the camaro's life and always will be with the sleekest, meanest and lowest prowler looks of them all.

I am so sick of 1967-1969 camaros i could puke.I own a 1977 rally sport painted like a Motion and i also have a 1986 iroc an 88 iroc and a 1990 slp iroc. The second and third gen camaros are my favorites. In my opinion the first gens are played out! they all look the same cause when one first gen owner changes something so do the rest . AAAAGGHH!!! I'm sick of them!!!
