My name is tyler and I am a teenager living in Georgia. I currently don't have a car but i want a 1969 z28 camaro and i prefer having a 350 or 327 so I don't kill myself. But all the kids at my high school want the hondas and toyotas and all the imports out today. I must be the only one that wants a classic car. Maybe the imports get better gas mileage? Maybe the imports are cheaper in price? Maybe the new "pea shooter" sound is whats "in". Well whatever it is i know these car won't be classics 10 to 20 years from now. They break, you throw them away, and buy a new one. Please if anyone knows of someone selling a 69 around the Atlanta area, send me a message. I don't wanna own any imports if i can help it...

I drive a 1971 Chevelle and I feel your pain. I work in a machine shop where we build high performance carbon clutches for racecars and such. The name of the company is RPS performance products. The only problem is that I spend all day making clutches for Toyota Supras, Nissan 300zx's and 350z's, Mitsubishi 3000GT's and the like. Although I just made a bunch of LS1 clutch kits this week, those orders are few and far between when compared to the Toyota orders (we also make the clutches for TRD, so anyone buying a TRD clutch kit is actually buying a RPS clutch kit). I hate how I am constantly filling out orders for these little Japanese turbo cars and never any for a good old chevy small block. We did just have a couple of guys come in and ask about us making them a clutch for their 950 horsepower small block chevy, so I was pretty happy about that. If more of you guys inquired about a clutch kit for the good old small block or big block chevy my boss would certainly make one, so everyone call in! If you're thinking about updating the clutch in your chevy, whether its for street use all the way up to a 1000+ hp drag car give us a call so I can actually make a clutch for the cars I love. The old cars will be around long after the rice burners have been turned into soup cans!
Getting a '69 is gonna be tough, even the rattiest will have a large price. Your best bet, I'd say look for a mid to late 70s Camaro. The late 2nd Gen cars have great performance potential, and can be had for a cheap/reasonable price. Plus, parts for them are cheap!

55guy is correct. Getting your hands on a 69 will be very hard. I've been in your shoes though. I'm only 22 and just a few years ago when I was in highschool i felt the same way you do about imports. My dad has a 1973 Nova that runs 6's in an 8th and he works in a machine shop that makes parts for the company called LOKAR PERFORMANCE. So I've been around american muscle my entire life. I found two 1969 camaros within one year. I found them in the wooded hills of Rutledge,TN. The first one I found, IT took forever to find the owner. Anyway I found him. The car was on its last leg but could still be saved and the owner said he would just let it rust to the ground before selling it. The second one I found was in better shape but had less parts, no front end, no interior just a shell. That owner said he would sell for $7000.00 firm!!! Thats ridiculous! So I finally found a 1978 LT to build. No its not a 1st gen. but its in my price range. The guy wanted $650 for but I talked him down to $400. So now i have the Camaro and unlimited options.
