Just curious about the HP of my freshly rebuilt 350. Its a 1973 3970010 4 bolt main block bored .30 over, Flat top pistons, stock 1.94 heads I think with a Eldebrock 262 Extreme Energy cam, 650 cfm Eldebrock carb, Eldebrock performer rpm intake Anyone care to take a stab at it? guesstimate the horse power that is hoping over 300

Do you know the compression ratio or the casting number of the heads.also edelbrock did not make an extreme energy cam but comp. cams did. are you running headers on the engine.

the heads are holding u back. they'll rob your motor unless you get them ported hopefully you have at least 9.5 to 1 or 10.to 1 compression. the power out put of your motor is probably in the 300 hp range already

Yea you are right its a Comp Cam XE 262. The heads are from a stock 350. Hooker headers and Flowmaster duel exhaust series 40 mufflers. Compression believed to be around around 9 to 1. Hooked up to a turbo 350 and a transmission speacialties 2200 to 2600 converter, for a 1969 chevelle by the way. I believe it could benefit from better heads but they are very pricey

With that combo you should be around 290-300 horsepower. also you might want to check www.summitracing.com and check out a set of the summit#sum-152123 heads.I use them before and they work pretty good.

you could try a little bit bigger cam but you will lose some driveablity it all depends what you looking for what kinda horsepower r u trying to seek if u are looking for a daily driver your combo will be fine just remember the heads r going to rob the motor also look at gm performance parts vortec heads youll have to change the manifold due to the different bolt pattern you could also try compcams beehive vavle springs they will give you more usable rpm. it just depends on what your willing to spend i know its expensive but hey musclecars are worth it
