I would like to change my current 1969 Chevy pickup to run on E85.  Are there any tech articles or places I can get information on converting my 4150 holley to run E85.  Should I start with an acohol carburator instead of working on the existing carb?

there are already carbs set up and coated to withstand the E85s effects on metal...

cleaning and coating the  inside of your gas tank with e85 approved coatings...

replacing the fuel lines with stainless  or braided teflon..

replacing the filler neck with one that allows the nice screw on yellow cap... optional....

if you want to increase the compression ratio to make the engine more economical when running the E85...  there should be some articals on how much compression to run soon...  and a call to a cam company should get a proper grind..

low compression is just waisted on e85...    unless you can supercharge or turbocharge it...

these are just my opinions... and i live in a state with only 1 E85 pump so far...

Honestly, I know E85 is the rage right now, but if you honestly look at what it costs to get an existing engine to run E85, and the limited (or no) availability of E85 in some places, it just doesn't make sense.

If you're looking to increase the economy of your existing motor, post the specs on the current engine and we can give you advice on what to do. If you total up the money you'd spend on making your motor/truck E85 friendly (and the cost of the fuel), versus what you'd spend to make your current engine more economical, you'll see the E85 option is gonna cost you way more, and be trouble in the long run.
