Anyone got any suggestions?  Here is what I have.  The car (65 Malibu with a 383) This is a street car with full interior. Best 60 ft time I seem to be able to get is 1.90.  The engine is a 383, 11.0 compression, ported 64 cc Dart Iron Eagle heads, Lunati cam 525 lift 262 deg at .050, 1.5:1 roller rockers, Holly 750 double pumper with down leg boosters, tall Victor Jr with a 2" spacer.  The car is a 4speed car with a 40# flywheel, 9" ford rear with 4.11 posi.  The car runs low 12's( best time 12.23) at 111 mph.  My 60 ft should be much better with that ET. Other cars with similar ET's and MPH seem to be posting 60ft times in the 1.60's and MPH in the 108 range.  I feel like I have the horsepower but am missing something.  Suspension is:  90/10 shocks up front with sway bar removed.  50/50 shocks in the rear, Lakewood boxed lower arms with lift kit, Edlebrock adjustable upper arms set to -4 deg pinion angle.  MT street ET tires, 10.5/27" on 10" wheels.  The car feels strong out of the hole and gets the left front off the ground.  It feels like it is hooking up well, but the 60ft times are dissapointing.  If I can improve the 60 ft times it should go in the mid to high 11's.  Anyone got any suggestions?

try taking the 2" spacer off or maybe even swap ing in take to a lowere profile the tall intake and spacer are killing your bottom end

What do you think would be a good target time to shoot for with the above set up?

Another option is a rear gear swap. A set of 4.56 gears would lower your 60 foot itmes, though it wouldn't help your gas mileage!

Going to a short spacer isn't a bad idea either. Or try no spacer at all and see what happens.

Thanks for the suggestions.  I have thought about the gear swap.  With the 9" rear end, swapping in a different pumpkin is not much of a chore. What do you think about using a set of drag radials as opposed to the street et's?  Maybe a shorter tire, such as a 26" tire might help also.  My rpm in the traps is about 6k, and I'm shifting at 7k, so more gear sounds logical. I've tried a smaller spacer and no spacer, and the 2" improves my high rpm performance more than it hurt the low end performance.  The result was negligible to the 60ft times but improved my ET and trap speed.  What I have done, and seems to feel much better is to change the rocker arms from 1.6:1 to a set of 1.5:1.  The car feels much better out of the hole, but I have not been back to the strip since the change.  I am looking for 11 sec 1/4 mile ET and feel the 60ft times are the key to dipping into the 11's.  Problem is in Southern Cal, the only track convenient is Irwindal and it's just a 1/8 mile track.  Sometimes the track is great, but tends to be "greasy" a lot, so not much can be learned on that surface.   I am thinking that if I can get the 60ft times down in the 1.6 to 1.7 sec. range is a reasonalbe goal, what do you think?  I'm thinking about running the Summit series next year and really want to be in the 11's by then.

Ya with the 1.6 rocker arms you are going to be able to take in more fuel and air. I don't think the 4.56 rear end will do you any good because in the short run (0-60) you get faster times but you will lose top end speed and possibly keep you out of the 11's. Does it seem like it takes you a long time for you tires to grab or is traction not a problem. If it is you need wider tires. Eliminating any unnecsessary parts like AC components or smog components will lower the weight of the car and add some more torque back to the engine.
