My dad has a "92" S-10 with a 4 cyl. and 5 spd. trans. He wants to put a 283 V8 in it, and was wondering if the current tranny would bolt up to the 283, or if he would have to get the tranny for the 4.3 V6.

He'll need to get the 4.3L trans, the one from the 4-cylinder will NOT bolt up.
Just curious, why a 283? Why not a 350?
