Both windows in my '92 RS don't work. At first I was thinking both motors had gone belly up, but the hatch release also doesn't work. So I'm wondering if there's no power getting to the window switches (both have been replaced). Has anyone else with a later model 3rd Gen run into this problem? If so, what was the end solution? The power locks in both doors still work, so i know there's power getting to the door.

Thanks guys!

well since i believe your talking bout the haze car, it has sat for too long. try pulling apart the various components and RR them clean, new grease etc. if the regulator gets power it should move, hum or make noise. i had a problem recently with my pass side window, but found that it had been changed the lazy way, with cheap reconditioned part. tiny little bolts that had nuts on them had fallen of and motor would torque sideways and not connect with gear.

Thanks for the advice. Yep, Haze has no working windows. I just want to get them working right now, I'm figuring on having to go through both doors later on, but figure that'll make for a good tech story for everyone later on.

grab the wires at the cowl /door and  shake them while you have somone  try the switch . sometimes the hot wire will break into where it bends when you open and close the door.  look for a big pink wire.

there is a trick to testing power windows...

figure out which 2 wires go the motor...   if you power it up one way or the other the motor should work.. power on one side ground on the other...reverse it to get it to go backwards...

i have a pair of test leads i made for my volt meter to do this... radio shack has rolls of test lead wire...    wire piercing alligator clips... and screw on banana jacks..(i like the pomona  stackable ones.. lets me make a single long test lead.. )  and a pair of banana type pointed test probes... rembember i use this for a living as a tech... i pull them off the meter and take a spare car battery and set it close to the window i am working on..  the alligator clips..go on the battery and the pointed tips can be used to probe the connector to drive the motor ( with the switch disconnected)... this tool will come in so handy ...  and it will make you look like a supertech when somebody drives in with a stuck window  and a fried switch.. oh.. and use 5 or 6 feet of wire for each lead... more to tangle.. more to work with...
