Tying in with a recent post, consider this:
Through the dark ages of GM production, where a rear-wheel drive car was an afterthought of the lineup, and V-8s only found in the low production Corvette and Camaro, the only place to find a good V-8 with a bowtie was in a truck.
Have you ever thought about a performance project using a truck/your truck? A small sum can get you a half-ton truck with the same performance capable motor as an F-body, the old Impala SS, or even the Corvette. After the success of the Ford Lightning, is there potential in a GM performance truck? What do you think? Woudl you consider a truck for your next budget project? Should Super Chevy do more with trucks, late and early model?

I agree there no other heartbeat's over looked then the truck's,in 1972 you had the super chyanne,in the tri 5 erea you had the Cameo truck. In the 90's you had the 454 ss,sport, the z71,and the indy pace truck, then you also hhave the joe gibbs truck now,and the ss truck.I think that super chevy should do more on truck's then the do.You also had the elcamino that you had ss's with the 454 and 396and i think the 402 they looked like chevelle's but they were truck's so i agree that super chevy should do more in the way of trucks

I agree, Trucks have lots of potential. In my neck of the woods, trucks are often used more than cars for everyday driving, hunting, muddin, parts chasers, towing, hauling and are generally a first vehicle for new drivers. No matter what the main usage, most drivers want more power from their truck. The most common mods in my area are V-8 S10s so I am getting a little tired of these since most are not done correctly. Maybe some articles on the right way to do the swaps would help. Also, some focus on the handling would be nice since most don't hold the road well to start with.

I also agree that trucks are overlooked. It's just about the only type of vehicle you can get that has a V8 and RWD. Don't get me wrong, cars are cool, but I think that trucks have alot of potential because you can do so much with them as far as a street/strip truck or any type of offroad.

I can see the early and mid year Elky's being performance vehicles, and I don't say that because I own one, I own one because it is. And as mentioned, there are a few 'sporty' models today. Almost anything from the 60's and 70's make great projects (but I'm old school). But here's the rub, these newer vehicles are so big and heavy that with the stock motor they'd probably go down the quarter in 22 seconds. I mean, you'd probably have to build some pretty stout engines to move these things. But then again, isn't that what our sport/hobby is all about?
As for increasing truck coverage, my thoughts are that S/C has a nice mix now, in fact, love the layout. I can see the occasional truck, but would hate to see them "camaro-ized" in coverage. Interesting subject though 55Guy, food for thought....

i think that trucks have more potential than most cars...they'll swallow any motor you can come up with...small blowers readily fit under the hood, or plenty of room for twin turbos...the transmission tunnel also accepts huge components...raise it, lower it, easier to tub if that's what you're in to...and there are sooo many aftermarket companies to choose from...
remember the 70's?
keep on truckin'
- i did love my chevette (first car) more than my first wife my 94 4.3L Astrobrick would outrun the 99 5.4L f350 i had to drive for work
