There are some of us still alive when the Camaro debuted. We haven't all died.
Apparently the designers of the new Camaro think so.
We've witnessed the success of the Mustang due to heavy retro styling that make us think 67-68 Mustang. And to the demise of the Camaro/Firebird altogether.
Now GM has an opportunity to start a clean page. Having learned that the buying public has forsakened them for foreign brands you would surmise an attempt to "get back" the customer would include a Camaro that would "move" you.
The Camaro doesn't move me at all.
Looks like a smiling Cadillac not a retro Camaro. 20 inch wheels akin to the hip hop generation, and being built in Canada for insult.
I predict it will be priced out as the failed HHR and go the way of the Holden GTO whose demise resulted from looking like a Chrysler Sebring and being Australian designed/built.

I agree completely. In fact, I wrote an e-mail to Chevrolet expressing my opinion about it. The way I look at it, if they had just brought it out and NOT called it a Camaro, that would have been fine. It would have been "just another new car". As a new car, it alright, it's just not "Retro". When you look at the Mustang and Challenger, it's easy to see the previous car. They look like a mild custom version of the previous ones. The Camaro doesn't have that. I've always been a Chevy guy and always will be, but I wouldn't buy one of these.

the reason its being built here in Oshawa is because of the quality of products these plants produce.the trucks,Impalas,Monte Carlo,Grand Prix,Buick Lucerne are built right across the street from me.these plants have been the number 1 + 2 plants in initial quality and efficiency in North America for the past few years.billions in new investments to the existing and the new state of the art paint shop, plus a new flex line to be built to accomodate the new camaro.unfortunately,i feel the camaro needs to be refined "more retro",as the mustang and challenger's new design embodies the old musclecar lines and that is what is appealing to the new buyers.my opinion,if they dont refine it,it will be a big bust.
