350 Transmission

I had a 350 transmission rebuilt and added a shift kit to give firmer shifts.  I thought that I would be able to put it in "Drive" and let the tranny do the shifting, or pull it down in low and shift through the gears.

I was surprised to find that when I manually shift, the tranny automatically shifts from 1st to 2nd, and I have to shift it to 3rd.

Any idea what is going on ??  Any help appreciated.

What year manufacture is your TH350? Sounds like maybe something didn't get installed right in the shift kit, maybe a passage is blocked or open and shouldn't be. You should be able to put the trans into low, and it won't shift out until you move it to high (2nd).

I have a 700R4 in my truck and have manually shifted it from time to time. It has a B&M shift kit installed.

Whose shift kit did you use?

I don't have any information on the shift kit used.  The vehicle is a 1970 Nova with a
406.  I am going to contact the guy who built it for me and see if he can shed any
light on what might be going on.

Thanks a bunch for your reply.
