Does the new GTO have a frame?  I thought it was unit body.

Ok. First, anything is possible in today's world of custom fabrication and CNC technology. The new GTO is a unibody design, so your only course would be to graft the front and rear subframes from the GTO onto the center piece of the '57 frame.

I have to ask, though, why woudl you want to do this? The aftermarket has substantial front suspension upgrdes for Tri-5s, and also rear suspension upgrades, including converting to an IRS system like the new GTO has. along with that, there are kits out there to mount up the LS2 from the GTO right into the '57 engine compartment.

But, I have to admire the idea in its creativity and uniqueness, that's what this whole hobby is founded on. I'd be curious to see if it was feasible to bolt the subframes from the new GTO underneath a 3rd Gen Camaro, or maybe even a mid-80s Monte Carlo SS?

I am with 55guy don't do it. The ease of parts for a 57 is amazing to find. Also you have to think about the weight and materials used in both vehicles. Your 57 is made out of 16-18 gauge steel and weighs about 2x what the gto does, you gto is made out of about 24 gauge high strength steel which doesn't keep its strength well when subjected to high heat like which occurs in welding. The reason I mentioned the weight of the vehicles is because if you subject the suspension and steering components of a gto to the weight and force of the 57 somethings gonna give, which is never a good thing.
